Masters Cricket USA – UK tour 2023
MCUSA Over 50 team is about to embark on a tour to Old Blighty and A new Era is set to unfold under the leadership of Sanjeewa Weerasinghe and Humayun Bashir. Just a few months ago the team under Parak Anantha won hearts, by their stupendous performances at the World Cup in Cape Town. The team made it to the top 4 and returned home as heroes.
Parak has since decided to continue to as a player and gave up the responsibility of captaincy. The reigns were passed on to the deserving heir apparent Sanjeewa who has been Parak’s deputy for the past 2 years. The core of the team remains the same with a few players like Sanjay Pandya, Mr. NJ Cricket Chintan Patel, the charming Lankan Sajith, talented Ajith, highly skilled Jeevaka missing the UK tour for personal reasons.
Amjad Khan, Arun Tholudur, Hitesh Patel, Milroy Don, Naveen Peiris come into the team while Raj Badadre the highly skilled off spinner -batsman takes his Coach hat off to don his player hat. Amjad Khan is a player to watch out for specifically given his experience of playing in UK for several years. He showed his class and caliber a few months back in the RAIN impacted tournament in Houston recently. Before the real rain played spoil sport Amjad had 4’s and 6’s rain from his blade while scoring a big hundred in the first game.
Rafey Kazi the stylish batsman from TX will want to stamp his class again, we all know runs from this touch artist will be a feast for the eye. Sanjeewa will want to start his Captaincy era on as positive a note as feasible, he will bring the Asian artistry to the fore when he gets going another of those players who is easy on the eye. Arun Tholudur is a bowler to watch out for given his brilliant performances in local leagues as well as Masters tournaments. He will be a huge help to the mightily impressive Humayun Bashir who had a fabulous World Cup.
Shah Nawaz could well be the dark horse. His ability to use seam will come in handy in Old Blighty where a cloud is as far away as your nose is from your face. Shah Nawaz is an extremely good all-rounder, the likes who have always thrived in UK. Zubair and Himanshu would want to repeat their consistency shown in the world cup in Cape Town.
Fazal would be doing everything feasible to play on two legs, his performances on one leg in Cape Town earned him a spot in the world X1 and won many hearts. Hitesh will want to prove his skills an opportunity has come to this well deserving cricketer after many moons of waiting. Mohsin Khan had a fabulous tour of Barbados, and he will love the overhead conditions in UK.
Milroy is making a comeback and will want to make it a memorable one. The silent but strong man Parak will feel LIGHTER on the tour after giving the
responsibility of captaincy. I fear for his non-Striker partners now that Parak will be lighter he will be flying between the wickets. Mr. SHAH please watch out!!!
The team will be ably managed and coached by one and only Arun Vittala a man with tremendous experience of playing this great game of cricket for decades and hobnobbed with the who is who of Indian cricket during late 70’s and early 80’s. He has no more RBC left I him it is MBC now!!! (red blood replaced with Masters Blood)
Please join me in wishing the MCUSA Over 50 team a great and winning tour of Old Blighty. They say no cricketer’s playing life is complete without playing in England. These 14 have earned the right and privilege to represent the rest of us and our best wishes are with them.
